I have ordered bacon with whatever a number of times my mouth watering in anticipation of a crispy tasty piece of meat only to see the limp ham-style thingy. Disappointed many of my meals. I don't order bacon anymore... unless I am in the US. Hmmm, deep fried baked beans - I am sure there is a way... :)

There is, quite sadly, a distinct difference in the preparation of American versus British bacon - primarily we've deduced it is by how it is smoked. Most people have directed us to "streaky bacon" which looks like, but is most definitely NOT American-style bacon. For a sincere comparison I suggest finding Oscar Myer at your local mega-grocer, it's in bright yellow packaging, you can't miss it. :)

No no no no no!! If it's limp, pink and not very tasty, that makes it undercooked not British! I don't like bacon that's not crispy, although if it comes to it then undercooked bacon is better than no bacon at all. Anyway, if the only problem is the size of the rashers, cut 'em smaller :P

Actually yesterday while I was writing this I recalled the section in the Hitchhiker's Guide where the Heart of Gold shuts down and falls out of orbit because all it is doing is processing the proper way to make tea. I get so much of Douglas' writing now, he left us too soon!

You are so right! If I'm struggling a bit in the morning, I'll make it a 'two tea' morning.
But does your office make tea the proper way?!
